SHD Constitution of Rules



Preamble

In the name of our beloved Dixie, the Organization of Southern Heritage Defense declare the following purposes: To do whatever we can at all times to preserve our Southern Heritage and teach the true history of the South. To do our best as members of the Organization of Southern Heritage Defense to protect anything that represents the true and noble history of Dixie. (Monuments, Museums, etc.) To teach and remember what many of our Confederate Ancestors went through as soldiers in the terrible War for Southern Independence to try and make Southern Independence a reality, not just a dream. Most of all to uphold and remember the glorious Confederate States of America and what they stood for.

Article 1.

Section 1.

This Organization of the S.H.D. shall be known always as the Organization of Southern Heritage Defense.

Section 2.

The Organization of Southern Heritage Defense shall be a corporation with principal offices at Shreveport, LA.

Section 3.

This Constitution shall be the bylaws of the Organization of Southern Heritage Defense.

Article 2.

Section 1.

The Organization of Southern Heritage Defense will at all times remain strictly patriotic, historical, educational, benevolent, non-political, non-racial and non-sectarian. Each member shall perform his full duty as a citizen according to his own conscience and understanding. Although at a time if our Organization of Southern Heritage Defense feels the need to turn political to preserve our Southern Heritage so be it.

Section 2.

Every S.H.D. member should at all times strive to help preserve and protect our Southern Heritage whenever possible.

Article 3.

Section 1.

The constituted bodies of the Organization shall be as follows: A. The Organization of Southern Heritage Defense National Headquarters will be known as the S.H.D. National Department of States. B. State Organizations of the S.H.D. will be known as State Branches of the S.H.D. and will elect once a year there own State Council. 1. State Branches will be organized by the S.H.D. High Council in Shreveport, LA. C. Local Organizations of the S.H.D. will be known as S.H.D. Local Chapters, they may create there own chapter meetings if they wish. Local Chapters of the S.H.D. will be formed by The S.H.D. State Branch in there area.

Article 4.

Section 1.

Only the President of the S.H.D. is allowed to appoint members to the S.H.D. Council, but if any member of the S.H.D. with good reason disapproves of the appointment he does have the right to bring a proposal before the Council asking for the person not to be appointed. The Council would then take a vote on the proposal . If the Council votes in the persons favor the appointment won’t proceed. If the Council votes against him the appointment will proceed.

Section 2.

The President of the S.H.D. is only allowed to appoint members to the Council. The President isn’t allowed to demote people from the Council. For a person to be demoted from the Council, the Council has to take a vote on the demotion and rule in favor of it.

Section 3.

The President can always be overruled by the Council except on appointments.

Article 5.

Section 1.

If any member of the S.H.D. should decide he doesn’t want to be a member of the S.H.D. anymore and he returns his membership card back. He will not receive his membership money back and will cease to receive newsletters if he doesn’t provide a appropriate reason.

Article 6.

Section 1.

Any S.H.D. member caught participating in any kind of a "racist" activity will result in the member being no longer considered a member of the S.H.D. Racism of any kind will not be tolerated by the S.H.D.

Article 7.

Section 1.

The S.H.D Council always has the right to approve or disapprove a new member for membership.

Section 2.

The S.H.D. accepts people for membership as regardless of sex, Religion, minority as long as they support our cause.

Section 3.

To be a member of the S.H.D. you must be of at least 10 years of age

Article 8.

Section 1.

Once a year a S.H.D. president will be voted on and elected as President. The New President of the S.H.D. will then appoint members to all the other positions of the Council.

Section 2.

In S.H.D. State Branches once a year a President will be elected as Head of the State Branch, and then he will appoint other members to the Council

Article 9.

Section 1.

Membership fees of the Organization of Southern Heritage Defense shall remain at $5 dollars a year, but in case of low funds the S.H.D. High Council will then decide on a new membership fee.

Section 2.

Membership fees of the S.H.D. will never be larger than $40 dollars a year, no matter how low our funds are running.

Article 10.

Section 1.

3/4's of the Money brought in by the organization of Southern Heritage Defense will be donated as a Contribution from the S.H.D. once a year to a Museum or Organization striving to preserve our Heritage.

Section 2.

1/4 of the money the S.H.D. brings in will be used to pay for things such as newsletters, and membership cards, and S.H.D. activities.

Section 3.

The S.H.D. shall always remain a nonprofit organization.

Section 4.

State Branches and Local Chapters of the S.H.D. will be allowed to have there own treasuries but all the money they bring in from membership dues will be given to the S.H.D. Treasury.

Section 5.

1/4 of the money brought in by a State Branch or Local Chapter of the S.H.D. in there treasury will be given the Main S.H.D. Treasury in Shreveport, LA.

Article 11.

Section 1.

The President has the right during a High Council meeting to deny any proposal he or she feels to unfit or pointless.

Section 2.

For a person to talk during a High Council meeting the person has to be recognized by the S.H.D. Treasurer whoever the person may be.

Section 3.

Constant violation of Section 2. Will result in the person be suspended for a Council meeting.

Article 12.

Section 1.

This Constitution of Rules can be amended by the S.H.D. High Council at any time.

This Constitution of Rules was passes by the S.H.D. Council on the 29th of October, 1997 and now is in affect
